Review for Betty

Last Night premiered an Episode of Adventure Time called Betty. This one dealt with not only the Ice King as Simon but also the woman he loved called Betty. There will be spoilers so don't read unless you've seen it.

Okay, so the Ice King gets in trouble with the group of wizards we've seen him spying on. Things go weird when it turns out the wizards are trying to release some sort of entity which feeds of magic.  Being freed the entity whose name I'm not sure how to spell, I think Bellanoche, which I think means lady of the night. Bella means lady and noche is spanish for night. Anyway without the magic of the crown Simon is back and steals a magic carpet from Ash, who he punches to the adoration of fans everywhere. Going back to the Ice Kingdom Simon finds his lost research and uses it to start his work. Marceline everyones favorite vampire queen is called forth along with our heroes Finn and Jake. Using Hambo, a stuff animal Simon gave Marceline centuries ago, they are able to open a portal to the past so Simon can say good bye. Here is where things get crazy. Betty is told about the future when she decides to write it herself and jumps to the portal to be with Simon again. The problem is that without the crown keeping him alive Simon is quickly again. Betty refuses to let him go and uses the carpet to take him to face Bellanoche to get his powers back so she can keep him alive and find someway to free him later. Death makes a return telling Simon he is going to die and it's either death or be under the crowns influence. Better goes all action star when all the wizards fail to defeat Bellanoche and she knocks her out.

Okay, Simon seems to reverted back to the Ice King and we see him later after he's captured Muscle Princess telling her the story. Ice King doesn't remember much of what happened but does know about a mysterious woman. Betty is seen watching him from the magic carpet before she flies off.

Okay, let's do the good and the bad. Fans loved seeing a new episode with Simon and seeing Marceline get to talk to him once more. I personally loved that we got a pay out for the Wizards council storyline that has been hinted at. And I'm sure a lot of people were happy to see Betty again and see her in the present or future whatever you know the time the show takes place in. The story was pretty good and it was great seeing character like Death and the wizards. It was also great to see Hambo come back and have that all pay off. Also we finally got to see Ash come back and get a punch to the face and it was all the better to see Simon do it.

Now the bad. It felt like it went really fast, the pace was off and it felt like it would have been better as a half hour episode. Betty seemed a little quick to adjust to the brand new world off Ooo. It was also a little disappointing to see such a baddy like Bellanoche get beat so soon and I'm sure they could have done more with her. Really a full half hour would have done this story justice letting it unravel slowly.

This episode had lot of stuff the fans would love and a good story but over all the pace was just too fast. I would have liked to see more interaction with Marceline and Simon but it was rushed like the whole story. I'm giving this episode a 3 out of 5. It was a little disappointing but still had a lot of good stuff.
