Review for Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls Tittle Card. Disney Channel and Alex Hirch.

Review for Gravity Falls
There is a hit show called Gravity Falls on the Disney channel and I'm here to talk about it. I assume you have some knowledge of it since you're reading this or at the very least interested from what you've heard of it. I'll try to give you, faithful readers,  the highlights to let you know what it's about.

A pair of twins, fraternal twins apparently, Dipper and Mabel are sent by their parents to visit their great Uncle Stan for Summer. Stan is a con man that run the Mystery Shack in a town called Gravity Falls. Gravity Falls a small town located next to a forest, lake and a few other land marks seems to be the home to every weird mystery, paranormal being that conspiracy  bloggers on the internet could dream off. I mean everything, secret presidents of the United States, time travels, psychics, ghost, gnomes and even giant monster robots. After finding a book in a tree Dipper quickly gets wrapped into it and brings his sister along. The viewers start to question how much does Stan really know about what is going on in this sleepy little town.
Well, that was the run down. Anyway this show had become a huge hit for the Disney channel and has developed a huge following on sites like tumblr. It's loved so much that Disney picked it up already for three whole seasons. Now let me get into the characters a little.
Dipper is 12 years old and the brains of the group especially armed with a book written by an unknown author who dug into the mysterious of the town.
Mabel is a silly girl with a love for sweaters and her pet pig. She might be odd but has energy to out shine some stars and don't you dare try to harm her brother if you value your safety.
Stan is the their great uncle and the con man in charge of the Mystery Shack which shows off to tourist several fake supernatural attractions. As the season unfolds there seem to be a lot of strange things that just pop up around Stan. This mystery man is stands out with a fez and sometimes sports an eye patch. Despite having a shack of fake supernatural stuff Stan seems to actually understand much of the strangeness around one time punching a real dinosaur in the face.
Soos is a lovable goof who works at the shack and helps the twins with any mystery that comes up. Soos has no trouble believing in the strangeness in the town and actually just seems to go along with whatever shows up with little trouble.
Wendy is  rather tall girl who works in the shack, apparently she's really tall because of her fathers lumber jack genes. Dipper has a crush on this red head, she's a few years older and she might not even notice his crush. She often serves as a big sister for Mabel and just someone fun for the twins to hang out with. Like many other people in town she doesn't seem to notice anything strange unless it is right in front of her.
Now there are a number of other characters I haven't brought up a weird prospector dude, an evil child psychic, Robby and a number of magical beings. If I were to talk about all of them we'd be here for a while.  Each episode bring up a new wonder to explore and show case. There have been things like living dinosaurs, time travelers, magical artifact and to the shows credit all these things don't clash or feel out of place in show. The writers have made it so no matter what weirdness shows up it fits even things that usually don't go together like robots and magic.
Here are some great stuff about the series: Even though it is a show aimed at kids adults will love it too for smart humor and it doesn't talk down to kids.  It has actions, humor, heart and isn't afraid to be scary at times. The characters are all lovable and quirky and unique. The characters are well developed and through the course of the season you learned about everyones lives and goals. The show really has a great balance with every element, knowing when to be scary and when to be funny and when just to have people question what is going on in this town. The mystery of Gravity Falls is unfolding slowly to the viewers, its like Lost except we know crazy stuff is happening from the start and there are actual dinosaurs. And some of the bad guys are not only funny but actually terrifying without scaring off any kids from wanting to watch. Writing a great villain is a hard thing to do but writers managed it, they created several which can be threats and fun at the same time.
When it comes down to it I can't really pick anything really bad about the show. I mean not every joke will land and some episodes are better than others but overall the show is pretty great. It's like a age appropriate X-Files for kids. There are some dark humor scattered about but nothing that really turns off the viewers. Overall it is a great show to watch.
I hate to give away spoilers but I'm going to tip my hat a little. The book that Dipper found is a key to something big and you have to wait for the last episode of the season to find out what and even then the mystery is just starting. The show has great continuity and has plenty things to look for when re watching the episodes. I'm going to give the first season 5 out of 5. It's just that good. The story is great and well paced giving the viewers just a little bit in the episodes and even episodes that don't deal with the over all arc are still giving fans something to go nuts for. If you have kids or you're a kid at heart and like to watch cartoons I do suggest you watch this.
